Dala 7s semi-final pairings

Kenya Harlequins, Kabras Sugar, Strathmore Leos and KCB RFC have booked their slots in the main cup semis in the on-going Dala 7s tourney at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Kisumu.

Paul Murunga’s Kenya Harlequin play against Kabras RFC in the first Cup semi-final while KCB will tackle Strathmore Loes in the semifinal.

Defending Champions Homeboyz, National 7s Circuit holder Menengai Oilers are some of the sides out of cup contention.

Main Cup Quarters

Kenya Harlequins defeated Nakuru RFC 19-0 in the first main cup quarter. Quins scored three tries and managed to convert two of them successfully.

Kabras kept Mwamba RFC scoreless in the second cup quarter, the Millers crossed over four times thanks to tries from Kenya 7s star Kevin Wekesa, Alfred Orege, Jone Kubu and Griffin Chao. Barry Robinson converted Kubu’s try.

Strathmore Leos overcame Homeboyz Rugby 28-10 in the third quarter.

KCB survived a comeback scare from Menengai Oilers in the final cup quarter.

Oilers were quick off the blocks scoring through Eugene Lubanga with Geoff Ominde adding the extras. In the second half, Elvis Olukusi responded with a try for KCB which was converted by Brian Wahinya.

Edmund Anya would add another converted try for the Bankers to push the scores to 14-7. Oilers responded later on with a try from Bildad Ogeta but the conversion attempt by Dan Abukuse sailed wide. The game ended 14-12 in favour of KCB

Challenge Trophy

Nondescripts emerged a 19-0 winner over Mombasa in what was the first game of day two. The Red Lions scored three tries, converting two of the three. In the second challenge trophy quarterfinals, Daystar Falcons ran rampant putting five tries past Western Bulls. They converted two of the tries with the three other conversion attempt sailing wide.

Hosts Kisumu RFC managed to overcome stubborn Makueni RFC with a 17-12 win. The Brave Hearts scored three tries with Makueni RFC managing two. The win sees them mantain Division one status in next weekend’s Driftwood 7s. Catholic Monks won the last quarter against Masinde Muliro 19-7.

In the challenge trophy semis, Nondies will play Daystar Falcons as Kisumu RFC tackles Catholic Monks.
