Kabras RFC achieved a convincing 67-3 victory over Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in a Kenya Cup match played at Kakamega Showground, continuing their winning streak to six games in a row for this season.

The home side opened the scoring fifteen minutes into the game through Dan Sikuta who powered over KUs defence to score. Ntabeni Dukisa added the extras to send Kabras into a 7-0 Kabras lead.

Three minutes late and sugarmen were at it again, this time Paul Abuto who was set up by a quick vision pass from Walter Okoth to score at the corner. Dukisa failed to add the extras, the scores reading 12-0.

Kabras continued to pile more pressure on the students by camping high in their 22. Ntabeni Dukisa made amends for his two earlier missed kick when he turned scorer, after he cracked Blad’s defence to score. He, however, missed the conversion to take the scores to 17-0.

Minutes later and the scores were 24-0 after Kabras, through Bryceson Adaka, grabbed their bonus point try behind the posts to set up Dukisa with an easy conversion.

Kabras would have the last say of the first half after Hillary Odhiambo grabbed their fifth try metres off the corner. Dukisa converted to end the half 31-0, Kabras lead.

Editor’s pick:

Kabras thought they had scored at the start of the second half, but Jeanson Musoga’s celebrations were cut short after the referee reverted his earlier decision.

However, the sugarmen found their footing minutes later after skipper George Nyambua went over the white wash at the corner. Dukisa missed the extras to take the scores to 36-0.

Kabras further stretched their lead ten minutes later, scoring two quick tries through Jeanson Musoga and Asuman Mugerwa. Dukisa added the extras for both of the tries to change the scores 50-0 Kabras lead.

Free flowing Kabras seeking to make a statement were at it three minutes later when Walter Okoth set up  Mathias Osimbo who dashed over the white wash to score. Jone Kubu making his first appearance of the season missed the extras the scores reading 55-0.

Patrick Lumumba doubled his scores minutes later in similar fashion when raced through Blad’s defence to score at the corner. Kubu missed the extras the scores reading 60-0.

Walter Okoth teaming up with Mathias Osimbo once again grabbed his second try of the game in the dying minutes of the second half. Kubu added the extras, to take the scores to 67-0.

Kabras move to 29 points after the win.
