Menengai Oilers bounced back to winning ways with a 53-15 thrashing of Mwamba in a Kenya Cup match played at Nakuru ASK Showground.
Both teams had lost their round six fixtures and were keen to bounced back but it was Oilers who emerged top to hold on their second spot on the Kenya Cup. For Mwamba, its their fourth loss and have now shipped in 133 points in two matches.
Mwamba scored the first points of the game with a try in the corner, following a well-executed move off a scrum. However, the conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Beldad Ogeta scored a try in the corner, but it was cancelled with the referee calling for a forward pass. The team was later awarded a penalty kick, which Tony Oketch successfully converted, adding 3 points to the score.
A strong run by Samwel Were led to a line break, and he offloaded the ball to Hillary Malweyi who scored a try in the center post. Oketch added the extra points, giving the team the lead.
The two teams later traded penalties before Mwamba scored a try that saw them lead 15-13 at halftime.

On return from the break, Tyson Maina scored a try from a rolling maul and Oketch successfully converted for a 20-15 lead.
Austin Sikutwa grabbed the third try before Beldad Ogeta scored the fourth try and secured the bonus point for the team, thanks to some well-executed offloads. Oketch successfully converted the kick, further increasing the team’s lead.
Clinton Odhiambo scored the fifth try of the game due to his quick thinking and Oketch successfully converted for a 39-15 lead. The club’s captain Chrispine Shitundo landed the sixth try for Oilers to lead 46-15.
Edward Mwaura scored the final try of the game which Oketch successfully converted the kick.
