Menengai Oilers, the 2021/22 Kenya Cup finalists, won their third straight game of the season, defeating MMUST rugby club 26-10 in a Kenya Cup match played at Nakuru ASK showground.
MMUST took the lead early in the game with a converted try, but the Oilers responded with two penalties that cut the lead to one point. MMUST, looking for their first win of the season, would take a slim lead into the break.
Oilers had another penalty second half and later scored the first try of the game in the second half, with Davis Nyaundi crossing over for a 16-7 scoreline after a conversion.
The Oilers then took another penalty and grabbed a five-pointer to take a 26-7 lead. Eric Cantona scored a penalty on the other end for a 26-10 scoreline. Oilers have picked four points and move to 14 points.
Mean Machine and Catholic Monks drew 17-17. Monks led 7-0 at the half and added another seven-pointer after the break.
Mean Machine then fought back, scoring two tries and converting one to close the gap to two points. Monks were awarded a penalty, which they converted, but Machine’s final try tied the game. Both sides have two points each.
Mwamba defeated Blak Blad 19-10 at Madaraka Grounds for their second consecutive win of the season. Mwamba now have nine points this season after ending Blad’s two-match winning streak.
