Kisumu Development win 2025 Nyanza Region Bingwafest 10s title

Kisumu Development are the new Nyanza Region Bingwafest 10s champions after edging out Kisii University 12-8 in a tightly contested men’s Cup final at Siaya Stadium on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

The Kisumu Development side will walk away with Grand Prize of Ksh 1 Million, Kisii University are set to bag Ksh 500,000 while runners up Winam will get Ksh.250,000.

To reach the final, Kisumu Development defeated Siaya Development 17-3 in the quarterfinals before surviving a stern test from Winam Development, edging them 12-10 in the semifinals.

Kisii University, meanwhile, overcame Kisii Rugby 13-5 in the quarterfinals and later battled past JOOUST 3-0 in a low-scoring semifinal to set up the men’s final showdown against Kisumu Development.

In the women’s category, Nyagichencha emerged champions after a dominant run that included a 25-0 semifinal win over Nyakongo before outclassing Sidindi Community 31-0 in the final.

Nyakongo later bounced back to defeat Nyamira Community 10-0 in the third-place playoff after Sidindi had beaten Nyamira 5-0 in the semifinals.

Winam settled for third place in the men’s category after a 12-0 win over JOOUST in the playoff match, having earlier defeated Maseno University 6-3 in the quarters before falling narrowly to Kisumu Development in the semis.

The Challenge Trophy title went to Kisii Polytechnic, who beat Keroka TTI 15-7 in the final after seeing off Homabay 10-5 in the semifinals.

Keroka had reached the decider with a 10-5 win over Manyatta, while Kisii Polytechnic booked their spot by eliminating Homabay.

Earlier in the quarters, Homabay had defeated Kanga 21-0, Manyatta beat Riat 10-5, Keroka saw off Rongo 21-0, and Kisii Polytechnic beat KMTC Kisla 15-7.
