Namibia eliminate Senegal to advance to Rugby Africa Cup semis

Namibia defeated Senegal 55-17 to seal the third semifinal spot at the ongoing Rugby Africa Cup in Namboole Stadium Kampala.

Namibia struck first when they went over for a try through their lock Johan Retief. Tian Swanepoel converted the try to give his side a 7-0 lead.

Minutes later, Tian Swanepoel would extend Namibia’s lead to 10-0 after he successfully drilled a penalty goal.

Namibia got their second try through Jurgen Meyer after he did well to evade his markers before grounding the ball in the corner. Tian Swanepoel manage to add the extra two points from the boot to give the Welwistchias a 17-0 lead.

Senegal, who did alot of defending in the first half, would finally got on the score board few minutes to halftime through Abdelkarim Fofana’s try which Saibi Sakho converted for a 17-7 scoreline.

Senegal picked up from where they left in the second half as they drew first blood of the half through Ousmane Souma’s try.

Namibia responded almost immediately after Van Der Berg went over after producing an individual solo effort to dot down under the posts.

Senegalese winger Mamadou Niang would cut the deficit for Senegal as he went over in the corner but it was Namibia who were about to run away with the game in the last quarter.

First it was Adrian Ludick who burged over for Namibia before Armand Combrinck got his name on the score sheet moments later off the rolling maul. Cliven Lobster was sure with the boot as he converted both tries.

AJ Kearns would then get back to back tries before backrower Adrian Booysen drilled the final nail in the coffin to win the game 55-17.
