The top eight teams for the World 7s Series Championship have been confirmed following the conclusion of the Hong Kong 7s at Kai Tak Stadium this weekend.
With one tournament to spare (Singapore 7s), these teams have secured their spots in the season finale—the winner-takes-all Los Angeles 7s.
World 7s Series leaders
Argentina remain in pole position to claim the league phase title after securing three consecutive tournament wins in Perth, Vancouver, and Hong Kong. They now sit on 88 points after five rounds.
Fiji earned 14 points in Hong Kong, taking their tally to 76 points, securing second place on the standings.
Spain continue their fine run this season and hold third place with 74 points after five rounds.
South Africa, who finished ninth in Hong Kong, picked up four points and now have 66 points in fourth place.
France enjoyed a strong outing in Hong Kong, collecting 18 points to reach 64 points, placing them fifth.
Australia sit sixth with 54 points, while New Zealand follow closely with 50 points.
Great Britain secured the final top-eight spot with 38 points, confirming their place in the HSBC SVNS World Championship.

For the third straight season, Kenya 7s (Shujaa) will battle in the relegation playoffs. Despite a spirited fight in Hong Kong, they only managed three points, keeping them in ninth place with 18 points.
Even if Kevin Wambua’s side wins the Singapore 7s, they would only reach 38 points, which wouldn’t be enough to surpass Great Britain.
Shujaa will be joined in the relegation playoffs by Uruguay (17 points), who also featured in last season’s playoffs, Ireland (15 points), and USA, who sit bottom and will be hoping to salvage their core status at their home tournament in Los Angeles.
With just one round left, all eyes now turn to the Singapore 7s, where Argentina will look to seal the league title before the grand finale in Los Angeles.
