Kenya Lionesses squad for Challenger Series openers named

Kenya Lionesses Head Coach Dennis Mwanja has named his squad for the 2025 HSBC Challenger Series, with the first two rounds scheduled to take place at Athlone Stadium in South Africa on March 1-2 and 7-8.

Among the notable inclusions is Faith Livoi, who impressed during the 2023 Safari 7s and earned her place in the squad.

She will be joined by speedster Freshia Oduor, who has become a key player in the team. Sharon Auma also makes the squad, alongside fellow regulars Naomi Amuguni, Christabel Lindo, Stella Wafula, Sheila Chajira, Moreen Muritu, and Sinaida Mokaya.

The squad will be captained by Grace Okulo, with Judith Okumu and Diana Ochieng also making the trip.

Kenya Lionesses have been drawn into Pool D alongside Poland and Samoa, aiming for a top-four finish in the overall standings to secure a spot in the HSBC SVNS play-off tournament.

The top eight teams from the first two rounds will advance to the third round of the Challenger Series, set to take place in Krakow, Poland, on April 11-12.

After that, the top four ranked teams will qualify for the HSBC SVNS play-off tournament in Los Angeles on May 3-4, where they will battle for a coveted place in the elite HSBC SVNS circuit.

The Kenya Lionesses will be eager to continue their impressive run and compete for a place in the prestigious HSBC Sevens World Series.
