The Kenya Cup 2024/25 season kick-off date has been pushed backwards by a week, following changes in the Kenya Simbas-Uganda Elgon Cup date.

According to the memo sent to clubs by the Kenya Rugby Union CEO Thomas Odundo, Kenya Cup season will now commence on November 23 2024 and not November 16 as early announced.

The lower tier will however kick off on 16 as planned with the changes in the top tier meant to allow for a seamless alignment with the Elgon Cup dates, providing clubs with adequate preparation time.

“No Changes to Other Tiers: The remaining tiers, including Kenya Cup Women’s, Championship, and all Nationwide games, will kick off as originally scheduled on 16th November 2024.  This adjustment allows for a seamless alignment with the Elgon Cup dates, providing clubs with adequate preparation time. We request all affiliates to update their respective clubs and stakeholders regarding the new kick-off date for the Kenya Cup Men’s tier to ensure smooth logistical and operational planning,” the Memo reads.

The Elgon Cup was also rescheduled following a consultative meeting between the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) and the Uganda Rugby Union (URU).
