KCB Rugby edged visiting Menengai Oilers 21-12 in a Kenya Cup semifinal match held at the Lion’s Den, Ruaraka.
Tries from Vincent Onyala and Bob Muhati alongside nine points from the boot of Darwin Mukidza were enough for KCB to edge Menengai Oilers in Ruaraka.

Darwin Mukidza gave KCB Rugby the lead early on for a 3-0 score but the lead was cancelled out moments later thanks to a penalty goal from Oilers’ playmaker Abutwalib Wesonga.
Wesonga was again on target minutes later when he scored a penalty goal to give the Oilers a 6-3 lead. KCB got their first try of the game through Kenya 7s International Vincent Onyala when he raced to score in the corner. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful. KCB would go for the halftime break leading 8-6.

Wesonga added another penalty goal for the visitors early on in the second half before Darwin Mukidza slotted in back-to-back penalty goals to take the scores to 14-9 in favour of KCB.
Abutwalib Wesonga booted another penalty for the Oilers to cut the deficit to 12-14. With the game approaching full-time, the Oilers’ managed to get a kickable penalty, a kick that could potentially send them to the final but Tony Oketch’s attempt for the goal was unsuccessful.
Just at the stroke of halftime, Bob Muhati scored KCB’s second try of the game under the posts which was converted for a 21-12 win.
