Kenya 7s speedy winger Patrick Odongo has been nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA).
Since his debut in Kenya 7s, Odongo has been a key player, representing the lone KRU Championship player to consistently make the final squads.

Odongo had a remarkable debut, scoring seven tries and emerging as the joint-top scorer alongside John Okoth.
His performance included two crucial tries in the final against South Africa in the Africa Men’s 7s, securing Shujaa’s qualification for the 2024 Olympics.
His excellence continued in the Safari 7s, where he scored six tries, including one in the final match, leading Shujaa to lift the trophy.
Odongo impressed in the World Challenger Series, scoring a total of 11 tries, including a hat-trick in the semi-final and a brace in the final.

At the upcoming SOYA Awards, Odongo will compete against other notable nominees such as the departed Kelvin Kiptum, a world record holder, as well as young athlete Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Daniel Simiyu, and Volleyball’s Simon Kipkorir.
SOYA organizers have announced that the event, initially scheduled for the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, has been postponed to March 1st in honor of Kiptum.
