Kabras RFC turned the tide after a sluggish start to secure a 50-22 victory against Kenya Harlequin, marking their 124th win in their 150th Kenya Cup match at RFUEA Ground.
Despite facing a formidable opponent on their turf, the Sugarmen showcased their resilience/ They displayed dominance in the second half, scoring five unanswered tries to notch their eighth win of the 2023/24 campaign. Being their 1oth season in Kenya Cup, they have now played 150 matches losing just 24 and have drawn two.
Anticipating a tough challenge from Quins, Kabras found themselves trailing at halftime for the first time this season. Cornelius Mokoro initially put Quins in the lead with a penalty, but Kabras swiftly responded with a try by hooker Eugene Sifuna, converted by Ntabeni Dukisa, to make it 7-3.
Quins reclaimed the lead through Paul Mutsami, with Mokoro’s conversion extending it to 10-7. Despite Quins extending their lead with another try, Kabras narrowed the gap with Derrick Ashihundu’s 11th try of the season, converted by Dukisa.

Paul Murunga’s charges landed a try that pushed Quins to a 22-14 lead, but Kabras fought back with Edward Mwaura’s try, trailing 22-19 at halftime.
In the second half, Kabras regrouped and came back stronger. Walter Okoth’s try earned them a bonus point, bringing the score to 26-22 after conversion. Brian Juma who has scored a try in each match this year added another try, although Dukisa’s conversion hit the post, leaving Kabras ahead at 31-22.
Lamec Ambesta scored the sixth try for Kabras, with Dukisa successfully converting. A yellow card for Quins led to Asuman Mugwera’s try, and Dukisa’s conversion extended Kabras’ lead to 43-22. Finally, Dukisa’s cross-kick set up Mathias Osimbo for the eighth try, securing a 50-22 victory for Kabras.
