Menengai Oilers bounced back to winning ways as they defeated Nondies 31-18 to continue their home match winning streak at their fortress, Nakuru Showground.

Tyson Maina scored Oilers first try when he crossed the whitewash to put his side 5-0 up. Abutwalib Wesonga split the uprights for a 7-0 lead.

Jadah Abdon stretched the lead further for the hosts with his third try of the season to take the score 14-0 after Wesonga’s conversion. Abdon was again on target when he went over to score the game’s third try. The conversion attempt went wide as both teams headed for the halftime breather.

In the second half, Nondies got on board through a well-taken penalty kick for a 19-3 score but Harold Anduvate would respond moments later with a try to give the hosts a 24-3 lead. The conversion attempt for Harold Anduvate’s try went wide.

Nondies managed to score another penalty to cut the deficit to 24-6 but again Harold Anduvate would grab his brace minutes later when he went over under uprights to give the hosts a 29-6 lead. Samuel Mwaura’s attempt on conversion was a success as the scores read 31-6 in favor of the home team.

Nondies final minutes resurgence saw them grab two tries with one being at the very final piece of play. The Red Lions would score in the corner for a 31-11 score before going over for their second try of the match in the last minute which they converted to cut the deficit further to 31-18.
