Heathens RFC have confirmed the return of scrum-half and fly-half Matthew Musasizi following the end of his loan spell at Impis Rugby Club, with the playmaker rejoining the Kyadondo-based side ahead of the new season.
Musasizi, who featured prominently for Impis, comes back to Heathens with renewed sharpness and hunger, as he looks to fight for his place in a squad that has set its sights firmly on silverware.
Speaking on his return, Musasizi said the club’s culture and ambition were key factors in his decision to come back. He highlighted Heathens’ strong identity and winning mentality as major attractions, noting that the environment pushes players to constantly improve.
“What attracted me most to Heathens is the strong identity, the massive winning culture, and how this is a very ambitious club,” he told the club’s media.
The versatile half-back described himself as a high-tempo player who reads space well and thrives in support play, while also pointing to his strengths in territorial kicking and handling. He added that his competitive nature and focus will be central to his contribution this season.

“I am a fast tempo player, I read space well, I am good at support play, good at territorial kicking and handling, and I am really focused and competitive.
Musasizi also expressed confidence in the current squad, stating that the team has the quality required to challenge for the title. He believes consistency and delivering in key moments will be critical both for his personal performance and for the club’s ambitions.

“I am most excited about the squad we have; we should be able to win the league this season. My personal goals are to stay consistent and deliver in key moments. For the team goals, we should not be looking at anything less than winning this season,” he concluded.
