Finalists for the Western Region 15s have been confirmed, with new faces Vihiga High School and St Peter’s Mumias reaching the final after a long wait.
St Peter’s, who last appeared in the Western Region final six years ago, are now one step away from a return to the Nationals but must overcome an unbeaten Vihiga High School side.
Western Region 15s rematch
This will be a rematch of their group stage encounter, where Vihiga edged St Peter’s 15-8 in their final pool match on Friday. Last year’s finalists, Butula and Koyonzo, missed out this time—Butula due to a ban, while Koyonzo were eliminated at the county level.
In the semi-finals, Vihiga dominated Musingu with a commanding 24-0 victory, while St Peter’s edged out Bungoma 7-3 in a tightly contested match.

Vihiga, who won the East African 7s title last year, will be keen to carry their strong form into the longer format as they push for a place in the Nationals. Meanwhile, St Peter’s are targeting a return to the Nationals, having won their maiden 15s title in 2014.
