Kenya Lionesses outshine South Africa to storm into the Final

Kenya Lionesses knocked out South Africa with a 19-15 victory to secure a spot in the final in Cape Town following a tremendous comeback.  

South Africa started strong in the second semifinal, with Nadine Ross scoring a try in the far corner, making the conversion difficult as the scoreboard read 5-0.

Ayanda Malinga then crossed the try line for the hosts, marking her third try of the tournament and extending South Africa’s lead to 10-0.

Kenya responded by breaking through South Africa’s defense, with Naomi Amuguni slicing through to score under the posts, narrowing the gap to 10-7 after a successful conversion.

Just before halftime, Sharon Auma added another try in the center of the posts, giving Kenya the lead at 14-10 following a successful conversion.

In the second half, Kenya extended their advantage as Freshia Oduor powered over for another try, pushing the score to 19-10 and making it difficult for South Africa to catch up.

South Africa managed a late try in extra time, but it was scored too wide for a successful conversion, sealing Kenya’s 19-15 victory.

The Kenya Lioness Will face off Argentina in the final.
