KRU announces new dates, venue for Nationwide final

The Kenya Rugby Union League Fixtures Committee has announced a rescheduling of the Kenya Rugby Union Nationwide Final.

The final will now take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the RFUEA Grounds. This alteration positions the final as the curtain-raiser for the Enterprise Cup Finals.

In a statement issued by the Kenya Rugby Union, the decision was attributed to unavoidable circumstances. The League Fixtures Committee expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by this change.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Kenya Rugby Union League Fixtures Committee has guided that the match be rescheduled for a later date and will now be played on the 8th of June, 2024 at RFUEA Grounds, preceding the Enterprise Cup Finals match. The LFC apologizes for any inconvenience this guidance may have caused,” the union announced.

The finalists, TUM Marines and Zetech Oaks, earned their spots in the championship match following impressive victories in their respective semifinal clashes.

TUM Marines secured their place in the final by defeating Sigalagala with a close scoreline of 26-23. The Marines demonstrated their prowess early on, with Steve Migel setting the tone with an opening try, swiftly converted by Elias Gitonga. Despite Sigalagala’s spirited comeback attempts led by Sam Bachai, TUM Marines held on to clinch victory and secure a promotion to the KRU Championship.

Zetech Oaks, on the other hand, dominated their semifinal match against P61 with a scoreline of 23-9. Mike Wekesa’s early try, coupled with solid kicking from Jack Mangale, propelled the Oaks into an early lead. Despite P61’s efforts to narrow the gap, Zetech Oaks remained composed, securing their victory with an impressive display of skill and determination.
