Mang’eni names Lions matchday squad for Rugby Super Series round 1

Lions head coach Oliver Mang’eni has announced the starting lineup and replacements for the upcoming Rugby Super Series match against Rhinos. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 pm at RFUEA Grounds.

Obat Kuke, co-captain from Blak Blad, leads the back row alongside Felix Ojoo and Mwamba’s Eliakim Kichoi. The second row sees Emmanuel Silungi partnering with Collins Kabayo from South Coast Pirates.

The front row consists of Wilhite Mususi, Oscar Simiyu, and Givens Oduor from Blak Blad.

Emmanuel Opondo and Elvis Namusasi are the halfback pairing, while Bob Muhati and co-captain Levi Amunga form the midfield duo.

Rugby Super Series team Backgrounds

The Buffaloes, 2005 champions, are based in Kakamega and comprise Kenya Cup Champions Kabras RFC, Kisumu RFC, Catholic Monks, Western Bulls, and MMUST. The Cheetahs represent Nakuru town, with Menengai Oilers, Nakuru RFC, and relegated Homeboyz RFC.

The Lions squad includes KCB Rugby, Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad, and Mwamba, as well as Championship sides JKUAT Cougars, South Coast Pirates, and USIU Maritals. The Rhinos team has players from Kenya Harlequin, Nondies, varsity side Strathmore Leos, Daystar Falcons, Mean Machine, and Mombasa
