The Barthes Trophy’s second round unfolded at the Machinery Exchange Stadium, Harare Sports Club, with Kenya U20 Rugby, known as Chipu, and Zimbabwe Junior Sables maintaining their winning streaks.
Chipu sit at the top of the four-team log with 10 points, having collected the maximum points from their two matches. Simon Jawichre’s team began their campaign with a close 34-28 win against Namibia in the first round.
In the second match, Chipu exhibited dominance with a resounding 56-17 comeback victory over Tunisia.
Chipu’s two stars, Alvin Khavoli and former captain Michael Wamalwa, each scored a brace, helping Kenya secure maximum points in the competition.

With this win, Kenya leads with 10 points and a point differential of 46. The Junior Sables also have 10 points after their 35-23 win over Namibia and a point differential of 37. Namibia have two points, while Tunisia have no points.
The championship will be decided when Kenya and Zimbabwe face off in the final match on Sunday.
The winner of the tournament will secure qualification for the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy, the fourteenth edition of the second-tier age-grade rugby competition.
This year, the tournament will be held in Scotland for the first time, specifically at the 7,800-capacity Edinburgh Rugby Stadium in Edinburgh.
