Kenya Morans secured their second win in the All-African Games 7s by defeating Tunisia 40-7 in a match held at Ghana University.
With this win, Kenya now sit at nine points and eyes further victories in the upcoming matches. The team entered the game aiming to rejuvenate their title aspirations after a mixed start to the tournament, having lost two and won one of their initial three matches.
Kenya Morans dominance
Kenya asserted dominance early on, scoring two tries in the opening minutes and converting one to take a 12-0 lead. Tunisia responded with a try of their own, narrowing the scoreline to 12-7.
Co-captain George Ooro extended Kenya’s lead with a center post try, converted successfully, making it 21-7 at halftime.

In the second half, Chrissant Ojwang showcased brilliant footwork after a scrum, resulting in a converted try for the Morans.
Taking advantage of possession from the restart, Kenya scored another try at the right corner, extending their lead to 33-7.
Brian Mutua capitalized on yet another turnover from the restart, scoring under the posts to bring the score to 40-7. Late yellow cards for both teams ensured no further points were added to the scoreboard.
Kenya’s upcoming fixtures include matches against Ghana 4:44 PM and Uganda 7:50 OM. The rugby tournament marks a historic moment as men’s and women’s teams from across Africa participate in the All African Games for the first time.
The men’s teams competing in the tournament include Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, and Benin. Meanwhile, the women’s teams feature Uganda, Tunisia, Madagascar, Ghana, and Nigeria.
The rugby matches are scheduled to take place from March 19-21, 2024, at the newly constructed rugby stadium at the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.
