Kabras RFC faced a tough challenge but managed to stage a comeback, defeating Blak Blad 24-17 in their first post-COVID match at Kenyatta University Grounds.

The win propelled Kabras to 50 points, creating a gap between them and KCB, who lost to Oilers, while Blak Blad secured a losing bonus point.

Coming off a successful streak of nine consecutive wins and securing a home semi-final, Kabras aimed to extend their impressive run, having been crowned Team of the Year 2023 at the Sports Personality of the Year awards on Friday.

This match marked Kabras’ return to Kenyatta University since their previous encounter in 2020, which ended prematurely due to fan trouble with Kabras leading 15-13.

Blak Blad took an early lead with a seven-pointer, followed by another score, leading 10-0. Kabras fought back in the later stages, with Brian Mutua’s try and Ntabeni Dukisa’s conversion narrowing the gap to 10-7.

Mutua, making his second start due to absence of several key players landed the second try before the break for Kabras to lead 12-7 at halft time
