Blak blad had a flying start to the new season as they overpowered Mwamba Rfc 43-13 in an Eric Shirley Shield 2023/2024 opening match staged at the Kenyatta University grounds.
Mwamba began scoring early through a penalty scored by Brian Mwendwa,However, Blak Blad took control of the game responding quickly with a try scored by Brian Shitambasi making the scores 07-03.
Mulongo Mejja then came in with two successive tries for Blak Blad which were well converted by Kiprotich Brian making the scores 19-03 at halftime.
Blak Blad continued with the dominance in the second half as Mwamba were completely overpowered with Collins Obure opening the second half with a try for Blak blad.
Shitambasi returned to the scoresheet with a try extending Blak blad’s lead to 29-03.
Eisten Kings scored for Mwamba, marking their first try in the 42nd minute making matters 29-08. Tries by Nyaribo Nyabika and Obure were successfully converted while Akwiri Oguna scored the last try for Mwamba which they failed to convert.
Kenya Harlequin were the biggest winners of the weekend putting 95-5 past Catholic Monks. KCB whipped Nondies 64-0 while Nakuru RFC beat Strathmore 20-10.
