South Coast Pirates unveil ex-Kabras back and former Kisumu lock

KRU Championship side South Coast Pirates have announced the signing of former Kabras RFC and Kenya Harlequin back  Kelly Akengo.

Akengo joins the club from Kabete Stallions RFC and the club believes his experience will be key in their chase for the elusive Kenya Cup promotion.

“South Coast Pirates is delighted to announce the signing of Kelly Akengo from Kabete Stallions RFC. Kelly, an experienced flyhalf has had a previous stint with Kabras and Mmust RFC, brings a wealth of experience to the team in our quest for Kenya Cup promotion,” the club announced.

On his part, Akengo said he is looking forward to his debut and helping the club earn a promotion to the top tier,

“I am happy to join Pirates and can’t wait to get my debut. My target is to help the club get the promotion, fans should expect this from us this season,” he told the Club’s portal.

Akengo has also featured for Ugandan side Jinja Hippos in the Uganda Premiership campaign.

South Coast Pirates second signing

Pirates have also unveiled Mikey Odhiambo a lock from Kisumu RFC ahead of the new season. He said his is keey to help the side pick wins that will help them get promoted.

“I am happy to be part of this club in the country and can’t wait to get started. My target is to help pirates win matches and eventually get promoted to Kenya Cup,” he stated.

Pirates once again failed to go past the semi-final hurdle losing Nondies who went on to be crowned Champions and will be hoping to impress this season where they will face competition from former Kenya Cup sides Mean Machine, MMUST, Impala and Western Bulls.
