Nondies RFC overpower resilient UOE Trojans, Kabarak win as Eldoret draw

Nondies RFC finished the year in style with a 19-9 win over University of Eldoret Trojans at the University of Eldoret Rugby Grounds.

The Rangers came to Eldoret in high spirits to hunt for their four win of the season that would see them retain the top position on the log. They however faced a resilient University of Eldoret Trojans who were also eager to secure a win at home.

The first half was UOE dominated and they were leading 9-7 at halftime. Nondies started the match on a rather lower notch, making mistakes that saw UOE collect nine points. Edwin Yatich scored all the nine points.

Nondies would however comeback to score a converted try through Frank Mutuku. Calvin Sheunda successfully converted the try.

In the second half, Nondies struck again, this time Victor Rogena scoring for the visitors. The last try was converted by Calvin Sheunda.

Speaking to Scrummage Africa after the match, Nondies RFC’s Assistant Coach Moses Wanyaga was happy for his charges’ success, describing UOE as a tough side when at home. He also added that so far the season is ‘promising’.

“Am relieved, happy and excited for this win. Trojans are a tough side at home. Eldoret is always a tough place to play. We have tough matches ahead but we will take one match at a time and we are looking forward to win.” Wanyaga told Scrummage Africa.

In other matches played across the country, Eldoret and Shamas Foundation played to a 6-6 draw while Kabarak edged South Coast Pirates 23-22.
