KRU outfit South Coast Pirates is set to host the first ever 7 a-side, U18 full contact beach tournament, Diani Beach Junior 7s.
The two-day event that is scheduled to take place at Safari Beach Hotel from 12th to 13th November has so far attracted 16 teams which have confirmed their participation.
Seven games each
Eight under-18 teams will play full contact 7s beach rugby and eight under-12 teams will play 5 a-side touch rugby. The format will be league-based over two days with each team playing seven games.
The tourney is sponsored by Wildlife Works and Rutland Building Services which have played a key role in Pirates’ pre-season campaign.

Pirates are on an age-grade development spree which has seen them host a series of Junior tournaments, the last being South Coast fives, with the team having their sight winning the KRU championship title once the season commences.
