The next government is about to take charge in the next hundred days. Mr next president when mentioning sports Rugby is one of the fewest in Kenya with a global outlook.
The boys and girls travel around the world carrying the Kenyan flag high in various tournaments. Our Kenya Lionesses 7s team are just from Chile recently with the men’s side Shujaa having finished 12th in the World 7s Series and are set for the Rugby World Cup.
Mr President, we need a sports Cabinet secretary who knows sports, not a former sportsperson, a person who knows all-around games. We need a committee which loves sports not one who will love ‘eating sports’.
We need a national team sponsor who will be at our side for a lifetime. We are losing players due to competition from our own clubs, and some abandon international duty due to lack of proper allowances.
Editor’s pick:
- Follow the Scrummage Africa on Facebook
- Kenya 7s squad for Rugby World Cup Sevens
- Koyonzo lift maiden Western Region title
- St Mary’s Yala win Nyanza 7s title
- Kisii win Nyanza Prescott Cup
Thanks to Hildana Lodge which came to our rescue to sponsor our 15s aside Kenya Simbas in the world cup qualification in France last month.
The union lacked enough money to facilitate the trip it was forced to introduce a pay bill number begging Kenyans to assist in fundraising the money where was the government? I am quite sure if the team had won we could have waited for them at the airport with Isukutis.
Mr next president, we request for more rugby pitches. Mr President do you know about Kenya Cup? This is where our talents are natured, we lack government support in the tournament. In your sports committee, we request one with the cup’s knowledge.
Good sports bring investors. If we want investment, Mr President, sports is one of the attractive activities after trade-in bringing investors.
We request your support. As the Rugby family, we say congratulations on your victory and don’t forget us in your first 100 days.
