Kenyan International Daniel Taabu was named the Driftwood 7s Most Valuable Player after helping the Nairobi-based side win the first Cup title this season.

Taabu played an important role in Mwamba’s run to the final. He scored the second try as Kulabu staged a comeback and defeated Menengai Oilers 21-7, extending their impressive run in finals run to four wins in four attempts.

The Laiser’s Hill School alumnus, who has played 94 World 7s Series matches and scored 22 tries for Kenya 7s, joins Strathmore Leos Brunson Madigu and Philemon Olang on the list of MVP award winners this season.

Despite Strathmore Leos faltering at the coast,  Madigu grabbed two awards at the end of the tournament. He was the top try scorer with seven tries.  He also won the top points scorer’s award with 41 points.

For the second time this season, Daystar Falcons’ speedster Patrick Odongo was awarded as the Most Promising player of the tournament.

Odongo was named the most promising player at the Christie 7s and also won the top try scorer award.
