Blak Blad beat Kenya Harlequin 40–26 in a tough and physical match played at Kenyatta University to secure their biggest win of the season thus far.

Blad started well, scoring the first points through a penalty after Quins gave away a scrum infringement. Quins replied quickly when their eighth man  Willy Tino took a fast tap and powered over, giving them an early lead. The match briefly stopped after Biko’s tackle sent Mike Munene off for treatment.

Quins’ mistakes began to pile up. Enoch Oduor punished them with two penalties, turning the score to 9–7 in Blad’s favour.

Their problems grew when the Quins number 8 was sent off after repeated errors, giving Blad even more control of the match.

Blad extended their lead when they scored off a scrum  through Obat Kuke to make it 14–9. Quins fought back with a try from Mukaisi, levelling the score at 14–14.

Just before half-time, scored for Quins, giving them a 21–14 lead at the break.

Quins came into the second half with energy, scoring again to push the lead to 28–14. But Blad refused to give up.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

They scored a try to make it 21–28, then another from a scrum to bring it to 26–28. Quins’ discipline hurt them again as they were reduced to 14 men.

After minutes of pressure from both teams, Blad finally broke through with a try on the far left, taking the lead 33–28. The conversion missed, but they were in control.

Soon after, they added another try to stretch the score to 40–26. Blad also went down to 14 men late in the match, but by then the result was clear.

Blak Blad held firm to secure a big 40–26 victory, their best win of the season.
