The Rugby Africa Women’s 7s kicked off with a bang as Zambia and Ghana recorded massive wins in their opening matches.
Zimbabwe and Tunisia also bagged victories, giving them an early advantage as they moved just one win away from securing places in the Cup quarterfinals.
Dominant Africa Women’s 7s wins
Zambia, carrying momentum from their Zambezi 7s triumph, dominated Burkina Faso with a commanding 52–0 win.
The Zambians raced to five converted tries in the first half before adding more points after the break to seal a 54–0 result.a
Ghana followed with an impressive 57–0 rout of Ivory Coast in the third match of the day.
Pauline Yaa opened the scoring for Ghana with a center-post try, followed by Sheila Dede who grounded the second for a 12–0 lead. Yaa then spotted a gap off a ruck and sprinted through for another center-post try to extend the tally to 19 points.
Grace Aduntira added another try for 26–0 before Dorothy Owusu crossed the line for 33–0 during a period when Ivory Coast was a player down. Ghana added a converted try to take a 40–0 lead at halftime.
Dede and Owusu rejoined the scoresheet in the second half as Ghana went on to amass 57 points.
Zimbabwe wrapped up the opening round with a 29–7 victory over Mauritius in the final match of the day.

The Lady Cheetahs were quick off the mark, touching down twice in succession for a 14–0 lead. Kudzai Wasili extended the score to 19–0 before adding another try early in the second half to make it 24–0. Fafa Tagarira proved unstoppable on the left wing as she broke through to score Zimbabwe’s final try for a 29–0 advantage.
Mauritius managed a late consolation try, but it was too little, too late..
