Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru has unveiled a 35-man squad for the club’s Ugandan Tour set for this weekend.
The squad largely features players who impressed during the 2024/25 Kenya Cup campaign.

Among them are Kenya internationals Ibrahim Ayoo, Elkeans Musonye, Timothy Omela, Samson Onsomu, Samuel Ovuamu, and Vincent Mwikali.
As part of their preseason build-up, the Oilers will face Ugandan side Black Pirates in the Rift Valley Challenge Cup at Kings Park Arena, Uganda, on Saturday, October 4, 2025. The fixture was confirmed by the host club.

The Oilers, who continue to rise in Kenyan rugby, will be looking to maintain their strong momentum from last season.
Under Weru’s guidance, the Nakuru-based side lifted the Floodlit 15s Tournament before embarking on a spirited Kenya Cup run, where they only lost to KCB Rugby and Kabras RFC in the regular season.
Their campaign saw them knock out KCB in the semi-finals before falling narrowly, 27-26, to Kabras in a thrilling Kenya Cup final at The Forest. They later lost 33-12 to Kabras in the Enterprise Cup final at the ASK Showground, as Kabras sealed their fifth consecutive title.
The Rift Valley Challenge now offers the Oilers an opportunity to sharpen up ahead of the 2025/26 season while testing themselves against strong regional opposition.
