Kenya Morans capped off a flawless Pool A campaign at the 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens with a hard-fought 12-5 victory over fierce rivals Uganda, maintaining their unbeaten record at the Labourdonnais Sports Club in Port Louis, Mauritius.

Having already secured dominant wins earlier in the day—36-0 against Côte d’Ivoire and 33-0 over Ghana—the Morans came into the East African derby aiming to finish the group stage on a high.

The match began with high physical intensity, as Uganda applied pressure and defended resolutely, keeping Kenya from gaining any meaningful ground in the opening half.

The Morans, who had looked sharp in attack in their first two matches, were kept at bay by Uganda’s disciplined defensive structure.

At halftime, the scoreboard remained unchanged at 0-0, highlighting the evenly matched nature of the contest.

After the break, Kenya finally broke through. Dennis Abukuse carved his way through Uganda’s defense with a brilliant run and touched down under the posts, with the conversion easily slotted in to give Kenya a 7-0 lead.

Moments later, George Ooro added a second try after slicing through on the right flank, though the conversion attempt went wide. That try extended Kenya’s lead to 12-0, placing them firmly in control.

Uganda responded late in the game, capitalizing on a missed tackle to score their first try of the match. However, the conversion fell short, and time ran out before they could mount a comeback.

The final whistle confirmed Kenya’s 12-5 win, securing their third straight victory and top spot in Pool A with a perfect record.

The Morans have now scored 81 points and conceded only 5 across three matches.

With pool play wrapped up, Kenya will now shift focus to the knockout rounds on Sunday, where they will look to carry this momentum into the race for the continental crown.

Kenya Morans will tomorrow meet Nigeria in the fourth Cup quarterfinal which kicks off at 9:06am EAT.
