The Kenya Lionesses have advanced to the final of the 2024 Rugby Africa Women’s 7s and secured qualification for the World Challenger Series after a commanding 19-0 victory over Uganda in the semi-final played in Ghana.
Kenya entered this clash confidently, having recently drawn with and narrowly defeated Uganda in the Safari 7s. Determined to assert their dominance, the Lionesses aimed to clinch a World Challenger Series berth once again.
Kenya Lionesses start
The Lionesses started strongly, quickly stealing possession and releasing Sinaida Nyachio, who unfortunately knocked on just before touching down in the corner.
However, Dennis Mwanja’s side soon got on the board when Judith Auma collected the ball off a five-meter scrum and powered over for a centre-post try, giving Kenya a 7-0 lead.
The Lionesses continued to apply pressure in Uganda’s half, gaining a one-player advantage after Uganda received a yellow card. Despite this, they could not add to their lead before halftime, which ended at 7-0.
