Rift Varsities have defeated Kabete Stallions 34-18 to claim Impala Floodlit Varsity title in an entertaining final played at Impala Club.
Kabete Stallions started strongly camping in the Rift Varsities’ half. They would soon be rewarded with a try to lead 5-0.
Two quick tries minutes later by Rift Varsities’ wing Antony Owino and a conversion by Erick Ogutu brought them back into the match. Rift Varsities would hold on to lead 12-5 at the break.
In the second half, Rift Varsities scored their third try to extend their lead but a determined Stallions responded minutes later with a penalty goal to take the scores to 17-8.
Stallions would cut the deficit further after they nailed another penalty goal to take the scores to 17-11.
Substitute Kelvin Mokoyani would land Rift Varsities’ fourth try with Ogutu converting. Ogutu would add another points off the boot later on when he struck a 40m penalty to give his side unassailable 27-11 lead.

Eugene Lubanga would drive the last nail in Stallions’ coffin when he went over for their fifth try of the game. Ogutu split the uprights to take the scores to 34-11.
Stallions’ got a consolation try late in the game when Brian Ondieki collected a loose ball and raced clear to score but it was too late to salvage a comeback as the Rift Varsities ran away with a 34-18 win.
