Kenya Harlequin and KCB Rugby will face off in the Driftwood 7s final after winning their respective semi-final matches at Mombasa Sports Club on Sunday.

Quins kept their hopes of reclaiming the National 7s Circuit and Driftwood 7s title alive with a narrow 7-0 win over a resilient Blak Blad.

The league leaders struggled to break down Blak Blad’s defence throughout the first half, which ended scoreless.

The second half remained just as tight until late in the game when Kenyan international Herman Humwa’s long pass reached Amon Wamalwa.

A Blak Blad player attempted to intercept but missed, allowing Wamalwa to race clear for the winning try, which was converted for a 7-0 lead.

With the victory, Harlequin booked a spot in the final against KCB Rugby, in what will be a repeat of the Kakamega Ingo 7s final.

Kabras RFC eliminated

Defending champions Kabras RFC were knocked out in the other semi-final, falling 17-0 to KCB Rugby. KCB’s win keeps their hopes of defending the National 7s Circuit title alive.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

KCB opened the scoring after Kabras attempted to kick clear to relieve pressure. KCB capitalized on the counterattack, with Austin Sikutwa slipping past his markers to set up Jacob Ojee, who touched down in the corner for a 5-0 lead.

Despite camping in Kabras’ 22, KCB struggled with handling errors, and the first half ended with just one try.
