The South Coast 5s kicked off with a bang as spectators were treated to 29 matches on the shores of the Indian Ocean at Safari Beach Hotel in Diani on Friday evening.
Defending champions Karen Crusaders managed two wins and a draw on day one. They started off with a 1-1 tie with Safari Beach Hotel, with both teams scoring a try each.

The Crusaders then went on to beat Tummy Boys with a solitary try before defeating TUM with two tries. Safari Beach Hotel had an impressive run, securing a 5-0 win over Butsula Boys thanks to five tries.

They also drew with the Crusaders and beat Tummy Boys with another five-try performance.

Dik Trille, Kaya Tiwi Gen Z and Karen Chiefs both managed two wins. The matches will continue on Saturday to determine who advances to the knockout stage.
