The Uasin Gishu County 7s rugby games commenced on Saturday with fervour at Warren High School, featuring a series of gripping rugby matches that set the stage for an action-packed tournament.
The highlight of Day 1 was undoubtedly the dominant performance by defending champions St. Michael Kipsombe, who delivered a resounding 38-00 victory over Arnesens High School.
St. Michael Kipsombe’s rugby boys displayed superior prowess on the field, overwhelming their opponents from the outset.
Meanwhile, other matches in the boys’ division provided ample excitement and surprises for spectators. Uasin Gishu High School secured a hard-fought win against Simat Boys, while Warreng triumphed convincingly over Moi Barracks with a 19-00 scoreline.
Tendwo and Sosiani also engaged in a closely contested battle, with Sosiani emerging victorious by a narrow margin of 07-05.

The girls’ division saw equally thrilling encounters, with Kamagut Secondary starting strong by defeating Dry’s Girls 05-00, and GK Girls showcasing their dominance with a 10-00 victory over Hillschool.
Kuiwoirusen impressed with a 25-00 win against Chepsaita, highlighting their formidable presence in the competition.
The tournament’s opening day also featured notable draws, including Kerotet versus Warreng in the girls’ category and Arnesens versus St. Anthony’s Moiben in the boys category, showcasing the competitive balance among the participating teams.
