Scrummage Africa has teamed up with Kenya’s renowned rugby powerhouse, Kakamega School, to organize this prestigious tournament.

With 21 schools including National 7s Champions Koyonzo, East African finalist Vihiga, and hosts Kakamega School already confirmed and more expected to join before end of Thursday, the event promises to be unparalleled in excitement and competition.

This tournament marks the beginning of a series of events planned for the future. Following the success of last year’s kids’ tournament, which brought together academies and schools nationwide and resulted in 10 students securing scholarships to various high schools, the decision to host a tournament for high schools was a natural progression.

The aim is to provide a platform for young talents to showcase their skills, with hopes of attracting attention from scouts representing clubs and leading rugby universities across the country.

Tournament Director Brian Mwenje expressed confidence in the preparations, anticipating a weekend of high-intensity rugby action.

“The participating schools are primed and ready for what promises to be an electrifying tournament. They are eager to gauge their strength ahead of upcoming school games,” Mwenje remarked.

He extended a warm invitation to rugby enthusiasts to come out in full force and support their favourite schools throughout the weekend.

“We invite rugby lovers to join us and cheer on their beloved teams as they vie for supremacy on the field. Expect nothing short of a thrilling spectacle as young boys and girls showcase their talents,” Mwenje added.

The pools and schedule for both boys’ and girls’ matches will be announced by Friday midday
