Oliver Mang’eni, head coach of the Lions, has revealed the squad that will represent the team in the upcoming Rugby Super Series, commencing this weekend at KCB Sports Club.
The Lions’ roster comprises players from KCB Rugby, Blak Blad, and Mwamba, with additional talent from Championship sides JKUAT Cougars, South Coast Pirates, and USIU Maritals.
Lions pick U20 duo
Among the notable inclusions are Andy Cole Omollo and Michael Wamalwa, pivotal figures in Kenya U20’s victory over Zimbabwe in the Barthes Cup.
They are joined by a formidable lineup from KCB, including Oscar Simiyu, Nick Okullo, Wilhite Mususi, Patrick Ouko, Griffin Musila, James Ochieng, Emmanuel Silungi, Persian Kolian, Felix Ojow, and Manasseh Odour, bolstering the forward line.
Emmanuel Opondo, Brian Wahinya, Elvis Namusasi, ob Muhati, Levy Amunga, Gabriel Namusasi have also been included.
The squad also features talents from Blak Blad such as Givens Oduor, Obat Kuke, Derrick Wechuli, Derrick Masese, Daniel Oyoo, Claude Nyamiro, Siso Rugar, and Shuaib Wesonga.
South Coast Pirates’ representatives include Charles Tendwa, Collins Kabayo, and Newton Okeyo, adding depth to the team.

JKUAT captain Davies Masinga has earned his spot in the lineup as well as Eliakim Kichoi from Mwamba.
The Rugby Super Series 2024 promises thrilling encounters, featuring four men’s teams and two women’s teams. The men’s teams – Buffaloes, Cheetahs, Lions, and Rhinos – will represent Kenya Cup Clubs, while the women’s teams – Eagles and Jaguars – will showcase members of the National Lionesses’ squad.
The competition format will include round-robin matches, with the top two teams advancing to the final, and the remaining two teams vying for the last two positions at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
The women’s fixtures will be held in Nairobi, with winners determined by the aggregate score over two games. Each matchday will be hosted at a single venue, ensuring an immersive experience for players and fans alike.
