Kenya 7s were knocked out of Cup contention after falling 21-14 to Hong Kong China in the semifinal played at Estadio Charrúa, Montevideo, Uruguay.
Shujaa had qualified for the last four after edging Uganda 7-5 in the East African Derby in the quarterfinal faceoff.
Kenya 7s backfoot
Hong Kong China, on their part, saw off Tonga for a 26-7 victory in their quarterfinal and had enjoyed a fine run on day one.
Hong Kong dominated the proceeding in the first half and pinned Kenya in their own half with Cado Lee landing the opening try that was converted by Hugo Stiles for a 7-0 lead.
The side struck again with Lee doubling the lead with another try which was converted for a 14-0 lead.
Kenya 7s’ first visit to Hong Kong’s half was fruitful with a beautiful offload from Kevin Wekesa to Vincent Onyala, opening up the defence. The latter later popped to Lamec Ambetsa to open his account for Kenya 7s with a conversion making 14-7 for Shujaa.
Hong Kong had the last laugh in the first half with Callum Mccullough going over for a try that was converted for a 21-7 lead at halftime.

Kenya 7s substitute Chrissant Ojwang came off the bench to set up fellow sub Benson Salem, who scored and converted for a 21-14 scoreline.
Shujaa’s push for the final try was halted by a knock-on. Hong Kong China will face Uruguay in the final at 01:39 EAT. Uruguay scored late to beat Chile 10-5 in a hotly contested semifinal.
Shujaa will face Chile at 00:37 am.
