The first edition of the Scrummage Africa Kids 7s tournament happened on 16th December 2023 at the Kakamega School where a total of 12 teams competed for the first time with the best players in the tournament being acknowledged.
In a thrilling tournament Gilgil Vumbi, a team from the Rift Valley region dominated the competition winning all their matches and three of their players were recognized.
Scrummage Africa Kids 7s
Milan Wanjiku was the Most Promising Girl while Josephine Kerubo also from the team received the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award in the girls’ category for being the most outstanding player throughout the tournament.
Manyang Majok from the team in the Under-14 category was awarded the MVP award. In the boys Under-12 category, Maxwell Mustapha from the Kabras team was the MVP for the under-12 category.
Brian Nandwa from Toto Afrika was acknowledged as the most promising player from the same category.

Austin Shumwa from the Under-14 boys category was recognised as the most promising player from the Kakamega team.
The tournament is expected to be bigger next year with more teams expected to participate thus nurturing the rugby passion among the kids.
