Uganda Cranes name squad for 2nd test match against Tunisia

Uganda Cranes’ Head Coach, Fred Mudoola, has announced a 23-man squad for a second match against Tunisia on November 27, 2023, at the Terrains De Rugby Grounds in Tunisia.

The squad will be led by Ivan Magomu, with assistants Byron Ogetayot and Conrad Wanyama, in the hopes of producing the best results in their second test.

Joseph Adero will start as the fullback, connecting Timothy Kisiga, the left-winger, to Shakim Sembusi on the right wing.

The Cranes’ center will feature Magomu and Innocent Gwokto, alongside scrumhalf Conrad Wanyama and flyhalf Liam Walker.

Nathan Bwambale will be at hooker, forming the front row with loosehead prop Santos Ssentezza and tighthead prop Asuman Mugerwa.

The second row will have locks Charles Uhuru and Eliphaz Emong. Blindside flanker Jacob Ochen will be joined by openside Byron Oketayot in the back three, with Sidney Gongodyo at number 8.

A strong and experienced bench includes Collin Kimbowa, Saul Kivumbi, Ivan Kabagambe, Robert Aziku, Frank Kidega, Haruna Muhammad, Joseph Oyet, and Nicholas Kato.

In their previous match against Tunisia, Uganda Cranes demonstrated their strength and determination, beating Tunisia 20-14. This being their last tour to Tunisia, Uganda Cranes hope to improve their performance against Tunisia.

Uganda Rugby Cranes have been active this November where they beat Zambia and later stunned Kenya Simbas 21-20 in a hotly contested final match of the Victoria Rugby Cup played at Kings Park Arena in Kampala , November 5, 2023. They proceeded to the Elgon Cup competition where Kenya Simbas managed to beat them 20-13.

Their ongoing tour is part of the efforts to have the national 15s team play more international games with the aim of increasing the number from two or three in a year to seven.
