KCB Rugby delivered a ruthless statement of intent after overpowering Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad 60–7 in the 2025/26 Enterprise Cup quarterfinals at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.

Although both sides had reached the last eight without playing, KCB advancing via a walkover against Daystar University and Blak Blad benefitting from Mwamba RFC’s withdrawal, there was no room for doubt once the whistle went.

KCB Rugby control

The Bankers were in complete control from start to finish, extending their dominance over the students following a 45–3 win the last time the teams met.

KCB exploded into life early, with Fidel Maina and Andycolle Omollo crossing in quick succession. Fly-half Levy Amunga was sharp off the tee, converting Omollo’s try to stretch the early advantage.

Amunga soon made his presence felt in open play as well, slicing through to score before calmly adding the conversion. The pressure kept mounting as former Blak Blad playmaker Lionel Ajeliti punished his old side with a well-taken try, again converted by Amunga.

The students struggled to stem the tide, their errors repeatedly handing KCB attacking platforms. Bob Muhati took advantage to touch down before Dominic Sande finished a sweeping team move, with Amunga converting both to send the hosts further clear.

TOR’S PICKS:

Eric Miheso and Emmanuel Opondo then added their names to the scoresheet before halftime as KCB’s experience overwhelmed a youthful Blak Blad side. The visitors managed a brief response on the stroke of the break when Cyprian Dawa raced in for their only try, with Noor Aden converting.

The second half brought more of the same. Sande and Ajeliti both completed their braces, while Patrick Ouko and Stephen Osumba also crossed the whitewash. Although KCB were unable to add any further conversions after Amunga’s substitution, the outcome was long decided.

With the emphatic win, KCB move into the regional phase of the Enterprise Cup ,  but their journey is far from over. The 2025/26 competition is now played under an expanded cross-border format, where four Kenyan teams will face four Ugandan sides in the quarterfinal Stage.

Kabras RFC advanced with last weekend’s 48-13 win over Kenya Cup doubling up as the quarters. Menengai Oilers proceeded courtesy of the walkover over Nakuru RFC.
