Kabras RFC scrum-half Dan Angwech has undergone surgery on his ankle after suffering an injury during the opening round of the National 7s Circuit campaign.

On Monday, Angwech underwent an Anterior Talofibular Ligament reconstruction at a Nairobi Hospital.

He had been sidelined since the injury and has now begun his recovery process. Kabras RFC took to social media to wish the Enterprise and Kenya Cup winner a speedy recovery, sharing the news of the successful surgery.

“Quick recovery to our scrum-half, @Dan54160177, after undergoing a successful Anterior Talofibular Ligament surgery earlier today,” Kabras RFC stated in their post.

Angwech made his Kenya Cup debut for Kabras RFC in 2017 against Mwamba, shortly after completing his high school education at St. Peter’s Mumias. In addition to his Kenya Cup success, he has also won the Mwamba Cup.

Born in Kisumu, Kenya, Angwech’s passion for rugby developed at a young age. His cousins, key players for Kisumu RFC, introduced him to the sport. Originally a hooker, his career took a pivotal turn when he trained with Kisumu RFC and met Coach Sheilan Nyawira, who converted him into a scrum-half.

Angwech attended MM Shah Primary School in Kisumu and later joined Kisumu Day Secondary School, where he began his rugby journey. His talent and athleticism quickly caught the eye of scouts, earning him a full scholarship to St. Peter’s Mumias.

During his high school years, he excelled in rugby, winning the East Africa Sevens and participating in the national secondary school championships, achievements that helped propel his career forward.
