Technical University of Mombasa TUM rugby team are the 2024 Eastern African University 7s champions after edging out Uganda Martyrs University 22-07 in the final played at the Maseno University on Tuesday 17 December 2024.
TUM delivered a series of impressive performances, they opened the tournament with a 14-00 win over hosts Maseno University, followed by a 17-12 victory over USIU-Africa University.
TUM also defeated Kisii University 19-12 in semifinals before registering a 22-07 win over Uganda Martyrs University in final match, a win that saw them clinch the title.
Uganda Martyrs University settled for the second position after the loss to TUM while their counterparts Uganda Christian University came in third after managing a 15-07 win over Kisii University in the third place final.
Hosts Maseno University finished fifth after defeating USIU-Africa 12-07 in the fifth place final.

Technical University of Mombasa now replaces Strathmore University who were the defending champions having won Gold in Rugby at the 12th edition of the Eastern Africa University Games in 2022, held at Ndejje University which had five teams competing in Rugby.
Uganda was represented by a total of four teams which were Uganda Christian University (UCU), Ndejje University, Kyambogo University, and Makerere University.
