KRU Championship: MMUST, Daystar, Homeboyz end year on high as Zetech bounce back

Varsity side MMUST RFC defeated Mombasa RFC 34-07 to register their third consecutive win of the season as the KRU Championship entered its gameweek four this weekend across different venues countrywide.

Mmust scored first through Ramadhan Abdalla with Washington Ombima adding the extras for 7-0 lead.  Veron Kaburu then extended Mmust’s lead with an unconverted try and added another try for 19-0 scoreline at halftime in favour of Mmust.

Mmust picked where they had left off in the second half this time Bevon Okoth scoring a brace to extend their lead to 00-29.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Philip Otsyula came off the bench and scored a superb try making it 34-0 in favour of Mmust. Mombasa RFC managed a try in the last minutes of the game but this was not enough as the visiting side held on for a 07-34 win full-time.

In other matches Western Bulls were handed a walkover after their opponents TUM Marines failed to show up. Former Kenya Cup side Homeboyz rugby secured a dominant 40-11 victory over UOE Trojans with the match between USIU-A Martials and CUEA Monks being postponed.

Mean Machine winless run was extended to four matches as they were handed a 15-10 defeat by Zetech Oaks while Daystar Falcons managed a 39-08 win over JKUAT Cougars.
