MMUST Rugby registered their third consecutive victory with a 30-5 win over the University of Eldoret (UOE) Trojans at the MMUST Grounds in the KRU Championship on Saturday.

MMUST set the tone early, with centre Ian Oduor crossing the whitewash in the sixth minute. Washington’s conversion attempt, however, fell short.

MMUST Rugby pressure

Eight minutes later, Clarence Hope capitalized on sustained pressure to score MMUST’s second try.

Back rower Paywick Munoko then powered through defenders to add another try at the end of the first quarter, before leaving the field due to a left leg injury. Brian Ndeda replaced him.

The Trojans responded through Larry Oanga, who scored following a counter-attack. Hope added his second try just before halftime, but missed conversions by Washington and captain Veron Kaburu left the score at 25-5 in favor of MMUST.

The second half was a tighter affair, with only one try scored.

Left-winger Martin Masika capitalized on an overlap to score in the corner, although Byron Ogada was unable to convert. MMUST maintained control, keeping UOE at bay for the rest of the match.

With the 30-5 victory, MMUST remain unbeaten and solidify their position as one of the top contenders in the competition.

Western Bulls returned to winning ways with a gritty 16-3 win over JKUAT Cougars after last weekend’s setback.
