“For me, this is my first time visiting Kenya, and I’ve always heard that their matches are intense and difficult,” said Mubarak.
Remaining optimistic about his team, Mubarak said they are prepared for the challenge, and their thorough training gives them confidence it will work out.
“Our team is prepared, and we are crossing the border to gain experience, win, enjoy ourselves, and most importantly, represent our country well in the tournament,” he concluded.

Alongside him was Darwin Onsare, Kenyan-born and raised but now playing for Qatar, who also expressed his joy at making the squad for the Safari 7s.
“I am grateful and excited to be coming back to Kenya, where my rugby career began. I thank the Qatar Rugby Federation for giving me the chance to continue playing the sport at an international level, in front of my fellow Kenyans,” said Onsare.
Onsare, who has been playing in Qatar for two years, acknowledged the challenges he has faced and expressed his gratitude.
“The journey hasn’t been easy, and it’s all in God’s hands. The progress I’ve made is thanks to our technical bench led by Coach Nawali, my team manager Nasri, and Coach Abbas, my strength and conditioning coach,” he said.
“It is always special to play on home ground, and I’m looking forward to giving my best and creating great moments in the competition, playing against big names and teams,” he concluded.
