Kenya Harlequin emerged victorious in the 2024 National 7s Circuit, claiming their first title since 2012.
Quins displayed consistent form throughout the season, reaching five semi-finals out of six tournaments and securing wins at the Kakamega Ingo 7s and Driftwood 7s to clinch the championship.
Quins in National 7s Circuit
This victory sees Quins join their Nairobi neighbors—Impala, Mwamba RFC, and KCB Rugby—as one of the most successful teams in the National 7s Circuit. It marks their fourth overall win, adding to titles earned in 2005, 2006, and 2012.
The result also reflects a significant improvement for the side, which finished sixth last season with 76 points.
This is Paul Murunga’s third National 7s Circuit title as a coach, having previously won two with Homeboyz Rugby.
Kabras RFC’s near-miss
Kabras RFC once again had to settle for second place for the second consecutive year, despite setting a new club record of 105 points—surpassing the 104 points achieved last season and the 102 points by their 2017 title-winning squad.
Kabras claimed two Cup victories at the Christie 7s in Nairobi and Dala 7s in Kisumu but fell short of the overall title.
Last year’s champions, KCB Rugby, finished third with 94 points, a drop from their 113-point tally last season. Their sole tournament victory came at the Kabeberi 7s.
Menengai Oilers settled for fourth place with 83 points, five points fewer than last season’s total of 88.
Strathmore Leos slipped to fifth place, a two-spot drop from last year. They earned 78 points this season compared to 95 last season.
