Uganda Rugby Union has appealed to the Rugby Community to support their U20 Women’s team which has been invited to participate in the inaugural African Series, scheduled in Cape Town, South Africa from September 25th to October 8th, 2024.
In a statement, the union’s CEO Mr. Isaac Nsubuga Lutwama says that it is the first international tournament for the girls hence additional support is required to facilitate the team in South Africa as the invitation was unexpected.
“The invitation to the African Series was unexpected, and despite this URU has made a firm commitment to honour it by meeting the team’s training, travel and facilitate.
“However, national teams do not depend solely on covering these basic costs, additional funding is required to cover critical areas such as passports, boots, gear, and other personal effects. To this end, URU is commissioning our first U20 Harambee to support this women’s team.
