Kakamega Ingo 7s quarterfinal pairings and group standings

Kakamega Ingo 7s kicked off with a bang with several upsets being witnessed in matches played at Kakamega Showground, and the quarterfinal pairings have been confirmed.

Blak Blad will play Mwamba in the Challenge Trophy quarters at 9:00 a.m. while Stallions will take on Kisumu at 9:20 a.m.

At 9:40 a.m., Daystar Falcons will battle Western Bulls, while Homeboyz will be in action against Strathmore Leos at 10:00 a.m.

In the Cup quarters, Kabras RFC will battle with Nondies in the first Cup quarterfinal at 10:20 a.m., while KCB Rugby have been paired against Catholic Monks at 10:40 a.m.

Kenya Harlequin have landed a date against MMUST at 11:00 a.m. The final quarterfinal match will see Menengai Oilers play Nakuru RFC.

On day one, MMUST caused an upset in Pool A, dominating their game against hosts Kabras RFC to reach the last eight for the second consecutive weekend.

Despite the loss, Kabras held on to the top spot, qualifying for the quarterfinals as pool winners after a superior point differential.

They will finish top of the log for the second tournament in a row. Blak Blad missed the quarters once again despite bagging seven points. An inferior point differential saw them miss out on the quarters.

In Pool B, Kenya Harlequin showed their might as they topped and ended the day as the only side to bag maximum points in the group stage.

They were joined by Nondies, who had already qualified for the quarters ahead of the Pool decider. Mwamba once again performed dismally, failing to win a game on day one.

In Pool C, the Menengai Oilers finished top despite faltering and losing to Catholic Monks in their pool. Monks joined them following a tie of seven points.

In the final pool, it was KCB Rugby who topped the pool, beating Strathmore Leos to end up with eight points. Nakuru RFC qualified for the first Cup quarters after picking six points.
